AP CALCULUS-AB
Course Syllabus
2007-2008
Ms. Grassl

Course Description: This course covers all of the topics found in a first semester college calculus series. At the completion of the course students will be prepared and expected to take the Advanced Placement Calculus AB Exam.  The exam will be given May 7th, 2008 (mark your calendar!).  The purpose of this class is to prepare you to pass the AP Exam.  We will work together as a team to reach our goal of everyone passing.

Grading:  Homework will be assigned everyday, including test days.  It will be collected once a week and will be graded for completeness and a single random problem will be graded for correctness.  Occasionally there will be actual past AP Calculus Exam questions assigned for homework and more time will be given to complete those assignments.  There will be 5 tests first semester and 3 the second semester. Tests will typically take an entire block period.
Tests = 75% of grade
Homework = 25% of grade
The semester grade is based on the total points earned during the semester.  It is NOT the average of the two quarter grades.  The 1st and 3rd quarter grades are just progress reports towards the semester grades.
Calculators:  Students will need to have daily access to a graphing calculator.  If one is not available for their use outside of the classroom the school will check one out to them.  A list of calculators that are acceptable for the AP Exam is available.

Extras:  This is a very rigorous course that will hopefully be enjoyable for everyone.  Please know that I am here to help you; do not hesitate to come to me for help before or after class.  I am even willing to meet with a group of students outside of class time.
I will make grades available online via my classroom website.  You can access my website through the El Molino website at:  www.elmolino.org.  Please check your grades often and let me know if you notice any discrepancies.
