Work permits are required for all jobs held by students 14-18 years old or until they have graduated from high school. To obtain a work permit:
Pick up the Application for a Work Permit in the College & Career Center
Complete the work permit request form and have your employer complete their section (Leave “school” section blank).
Return it to Ms. Demeduc.
Come back the next day to pick up the permit.
YOU must pick up the permit yourself because YOU have to sign it.
Take the completed work permit to your employer.
16-17 year old:
When school is in session: Daily maximum 4 hours, Monday through Thursday. May work up to 8 hours on any nonschool day or on any day that precedes a nonschool day.
When school is not in session: May work up to 48 hours per week but no more that 8 hours in any one day.
Work must be performed no earlier than 5: a.m., nor later than 10:00 p.m. except that work may extend to 12:30 a.m. on nights preceding non-school days.
14 – 15 year old:
When school in session: On school days daily maximum 3 hours. On non-school days may work 8 hours. Weekly maximum 18 hours.
When school in not in session: Daily maximum 8 hours and weekly maximum 40 hours.Work must be performed no earlier that 7:00 a.m. nor later than 7:00 p.m. any day of the week. From June 1 to Labor Day work hours may be extended to 9:00 p.m.
